Music Applicants – Important Information

All prospective music applicants who have applied to SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ will be required to complete the Music Intent Form located inside their SpartanStart portal. Applicants will receive access to this portal once they have successfully submitted an admissions application. Current students and students who have not yet applied may schedule an audition by filling out theÌý.

Music technology program applicants are not required to audition, unless auditioning for a music scholarship. However, music technology applicants will still need to complete the Music Intent Form in their SpartanStart portal when they apply, or fill out theÌý, for program confirmation purposes.

Before auditioning for a music program or music scholarship, prospective students should review the audition information and requirements for their program and instrument.

Live On-Camus Audition - Music Audition Days

Applicants may audition on campus atÌýone of our Music Audition Days (see below). The first two Music Audition Days coincide with official AdmissionsÌýÌýin October and November:

Live On-Campus Audition - Alternate Audition Days

Applicants (except voice students) may audition on an alternate date at times that coordinate with both prospective students and faculty.ÌýTo register for a live on-campus audition on an alternate audition date, please complete the Music Intent Form inside your SpartanStart portal if you are applying for SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, or the if you are a current student or have not yet applied to SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, and specify a list of your available dates and times.

Live Virtual Audition

Applicants (except voice students) may audition through Zoom on an alternate date at times that coordinate with both prospective students and faculty. To register for a live virtual audition audition, please complete the Music Intent Form inside your SpartanStart portal if you are applying for SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, or theÌýÌýif you are a current student or have not yet applied to SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, and specify a list of your available dates and times.

Recorded Video AuditionÌý

Applicants may also audition by submitting a link to a recorded audition video online, when submitting the Music Intent Form or . Videos must be readily accessible and not password-protected. Applicants must state their name and the program they are auditioning for at the beginning of the video. Applicants should also state the title and composer of any pieces they perform. The video must be recorded in a single take without editing, and may use a live/recorded accompaniment when appropriate.

Music Scholarships

Prospective music students may be eligible for aÌýmusic scholarship, based on departmental need and the quality of the student's audition. Music scholarships require ensemble participation and enrollment in studio lessons on a student's primary instrument.

Currently Enrolled SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Students

Currently enrolled SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ students who are auditioning for a music major or minor, or adding a music technology major, should fill out ourÌý.

Future Spartans

If you are interested in studying music at SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½, but are not a current applicant (9th-11thÌýgrade students), please fill out theÌý.
